What an awesome fish!!

An extract of the e-mail I received...

Anyway this spotted grunter was caught on Monday the 12th of April as the tide was pushing back in towards high tide at the river mouth in the Kromme river near St Francis bay. The weather was awful the whole weekend and this Monday was the only fishing day I had, as it turned out to be a lovely sunny day. The grunter was caught on my first cast although I did a lot of speculation beforehand finding the right spot near a sandbank and where the water was deap enough. The bad weather and storms of the previous days also formed new fresh sandbanks in the river mouth with nice "deep trenches" if i can call it that. I used 4kg line and a small shimano "coffee grinder" as is fitting for grunter fishing and the fish took a fresh pink prawn i had collected a few minutes before. He ran off about half my line before i turned him around and our battle lasted for a sintilating 20 minutes. As i was by myself and had no net i had to play him to such an exhaustion level that i literally could drag him onto the sand. At home the grunter weighed in at 7.6 kgs although i must admit the scale was a bit rusty. The pics are attached.

Kind Regards
